Because they have the chance to OBSERVE guys doing this to them ALL DAY LONG. And to be perfectly honest with you, it REPULSES the HELL out of them. Because they've ASSOCIATED this type of behavior with guys who are NOT UP TO PAR.

After all, these girls have been brought up to believe that they are special. So if you TREAT them as if they ARE, they have NO CHOICE but to believe that THEY ARE SPECIAL relative to YOU.

And get this:
There are guys out there who SPECIALIZE in acting all cool and aloof, for the strict purpose of WOMANIZING.

Yet this aloof, sometimes ABUSIVE behavior is often interpreted as a sign of SUPERIORITY by many women. Chocolates and flowers and offering favors is interpreted as INFERIORITY.

Now I believe that MOST GUYS are good guys, and DO NOT WANT to manipulate women. They do not want to manipulate women, they just want to have a really great woman or women in their life. But what chance does a GOOD GUY have against the JERKS?
Mississippi - The state College Board will begin researching whether it has the legal authority to let Mississippi's eight public universities offer casino management classes, something an out-of-state school already does. Some board members said they thought it was against the law for schools to offer such courses in Mississippi, which legalized casino gambling a decade ago. But board member Ricki Garrett of Clinton said she thinks the board can do so without legislative approval.
Danger sign:
Possibly the worst first date doorstep signal is when one person leans in for the goodnight smooch, and the other sticks out their hand for a handshake. A less-obvious sign is a quick kiss or hug, followed by a pat on the back (which can indicate discomfort with the embrace.)
A little common sense goes a long way. You may have to be a little flexible to fit in, not because she is a woman, but because she is a HUMAN BEING.

If you were obviously upset, or angry, or whatever, wouldn't YOU be easier to talk to if the person talking to you TOOK THAT INTO ACCOUNT and showed a little understanding of that? If you are in a bar, chances are that you could probably get away with far wilder behavior than on the street.
But each environment has its own advantages- I'm reminded of Emerson's essay on compensation, on the street, a woman is less expecting you to come up to her, so if you do it right, it's more of a thrill, and more spontaneous, and even more *romantic* in a sexual sense, not a *make the guy wait ten months for sex* sense.

The bottom line is to have this attitude with any woman you meet:
*She wants me, and all I have to do is take it.*
 
Rule Nine:

When my Agent Orange starts acting up, the voices in my head frequently tell me to clean the guns as I wait for you to bring my daughter home. As soon as you pull into the driveway you should exit your car with both hands in plain sight. dating the perimeter password, announce in a clear voice that you have brought my daughter home safely and early, then return to your car -- there is no need for you to come inside. The camouflaged face at the window is mine.

If a woman puts you off, often times it's because she's not yet attracted enough to you to give you a chance. She's only going to jump at opportunities that she deems are beneficial TO HER. Meaning, even if she has a boyfriend, if she wants you badly enough, she'll go after you. On the other hand, if you haven't proven yourself as a commodity, she won't initially be interested.

In this instance, this waitress has an automatic defensive test against guys that come on to her at work. Frankly, she was probably just being nice to you because you're a customer, and that's what she does for her job. You're just confusing professional politeness for romantic interest.
